ASLI Fellowship Programme

Every year, Founding Member and other Member Institutions are invited to send one faculty member to ASLI as a Visiting Fellow for one month between mid-August to early December or January to early May. These periods correspond to the NUS academic semesters.

While at NUS, the ASLI Fellows are expected to conduct collaborative research on legal issues of interest to their respective countries or to Asia in general. Each Fellow is expected to present a seminar paper at ASLI during his or her fellowship. In addition, some Fellows may occasionally be invited as guest lecturers to teach in courses offered at the NUS Faculty of Law.

Together, the ASLI Fellows also prepare papers for presentation at the annual ASLI conference to be hosted by Founding Member Institutions on a rotating basis in April or May the following calendar year. Members of ASLI also do their best to facilitate student and faculty exchanges among themselves.

Prospective ASLI Fellows from Founding Member Institutions have to be nominated by their respective Deans while Fellowships for Member Institutions are offered on a competitive basis.

The following are the closing dates for applications :
Application for Semester 1 (mid August to early December) : 30 May of the Fellowship year

Application for Semester 2 (January to May) : 10 October of the preceding Fellowship year
