About the Forum
-

The onset of the Fair Trading legislation that CASE has been promoting for several years has become a reality. It is therefore vital for traders and consumers to be acquainted with the legislation and be prepared for its implementation. The legislation is expected to come before Parliament by the end of the year. The major aim of the legislation is to level the playing field for businesses by weeding out unconscionable behaviour and bad business practices.

The Forum hopes to be a platform for businesses to raise issues that they feel would enhance the objectives of the legislation. It also hopes to explore complementary roles that industry and businesses can perform in the new regime. With such a partnership, business excellence can be achieved through standards that can be realistically delivered by the industry to consumers. In addition, the Forum hopes to offer pragmatic advice to businesses in the run up to the implementation of the legislation. As such, it is an opportunity for all business leaders and professionals to participate in a consultative atmosphere to discover how the legislation would fit into the existing regulatory and legal framework.
