3.
Priority for Elective Subjects
Priority in elective subjects is allocated in the following manner:
4. Students will be required to register for 20 credits. 5. Students who wish to take more or fewer than 20 credits must first seek the approval of the Vice-Dean (Academic Affairs)/Assistant Dean (Curriculum and Student Academic Matters). Non-law Modules for Credit 6. LLB Students are not required to read any non-law subjects (subjects) offered by other faculties at NUS. 7. LLB students are permitted, without any special approval, to take a total of 12 credits of subjects from other faculties from a list of subjects approved by the Dean. This means that without any approval from the Dean, students can do (a) 12 credits of non-law subjects in Year 3; (b) 12 credits of non-law subjects in Year 4; or (c) 8 credits of non-law subjects in Year 3 and 4 credits of non-law subject in Year 4 or vice versa. However, the subjects taken in each year must be from the list of subjects approved by the Dean for that academic year. 8. Students taking non-law subjects have to ensure there are no clashes in the class and examination timetable with their law subjects. Students are advised to regularly check the websites of their respective non-law subjects for any updates. 9. LLB students may, with the permission of the Dean, do more than 12 credits of non-law subjects in other faculties for credit. LLB students may also, with the permission of the Dean, read subjects that are not on the list approved by the Dean. LLB students who wish to request special permission of the Dean for either of these purposes should send a letter to the Vice-Dean (Academic Affairs) setting out their request and the reasons. 10. Non-law subjects read under the scheme described above will count towards fulfilling the number of credits required to complete the LLB degree and count towards the class of honours. 11. Students who intend to do non-law subjects for credit must include those subjects in the on-line registration form and rank them accordingly. Non-Law Subjects for Enrichment (Cross Faculty Subjects) 12. LLB Students may be permitted to take subjects in other faculties for enrichment purposes. In such cases, the subjects will not count towards fulfilling the credits required to complete the LLB degree. Nor will the grades and marks in such subjects be taken into account in determining the award of honours. However, the name of the subjects and the grades obtained will appear on the transcript. 13. LLB Students interested in reading non-law subjects for enrichment purposes should inform the Vice-Dean (Academic Affairs)/Assistant Dean (Curriculum and Student Academic Matters).
