Subject Registration Information for Graduate Students

AY2008/2009 Semester 1  

Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law & Arbitration
 

 

A.         Curriculum Requirements 

1.         Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law and Arbitration students are required to take 32 credits of subjects. The programme is specially designed such that students who complete the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Commercial Arbitration (GCIA) Programme will be granted 12 credits toward the 32 credits required for the Graduate Diploma. Thus, students are required to complete 20 credits of subjects from the Maritime Law grouping and 12 credits from the GCIA programme.

 2.         For Semester 2, students will read courses from the GCIA Programme. Details regarding the conduct of the GCIA Programme will be sent to students before the Programme commences in the second week of January 2008. Students need not register separately for the GCIA Programme. 

3.         The compulsory subject for the programme is LLD5008 Carriage of Goods by Sea (4 credits), which will be offered in Semester 2.

B.         Registration for Law Subjects

(Please refer to Timetables & Information on Elective Subjects) 

1.         Please refer to website for elective subjects opened to Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law & Arbitration students. These subjects are denoted by subject code LLD5xxx. Please ensure that you select only subjects appropriate for your programme. 

2.         Priority in elective subjects is allocated in the following manner:
Priority 1       (a) Research and DipMLA students. All subjects chosen will be allocated.
                    (b) Specialist LLM students. Priority allocation will be given for subjects (within the areas of specializations) ranked in the TOP THREE choices.

Priority 2        General LLM students, Final Year LLB and Final Year GLB students. Subjects ranked in the first FOUR choices^ will be allocated*.

Priority 3        Specialist LLM students choosing subjects outside their areas of specialization. Subjects ranked in the first TWO choices^ will be allocated*.

Priority 4         DipSing and Third Year LLB students. Subjects ranked in the first TWO choices^ will be allocated*.

Priority 5         Exchange students. Subjects ranked in the first TWO choices^ will be allocated*.

3.         Registration for Semester 1 subjects will begin on Tuesday 8 July 2008, 9am. The deadline for registration is Tuesday, 15 July 2008, 5pm.

4.         [16 July 2008] The Online Registration is now closed.

 

C.         Outcome of Subject Registration 

The results of the subject registration for Semester 1 will be published on the Faculty of Law website http://law.nus.edu.sg on Tuesday 22 July 2008, 6pm

D.         Add/Drop Rules & Dates
