Brief Biodata

Lynette, a 2005 Fulbright scholar, is currently pursuing her Ph.D. studies in Jurisprudence and Social Policy at the University of California-Berkeley. After graduating with a B.Sc. in Journalism from Ohio University, Lynette worked as a journalist in Nashville, Tennessee. She later obtained her LL.B. from the National University of Singapore. Her doctorate research at UC-Berkeley examines how gay activists in non-Western democracies, such as Singapore, interpret and draw upon their past experiences with the law to formulate legal strategies and tactics, and to achieve collective goals of their activist work. More broadly, Lynette is interested in the relationships among law, mobilization and democracy.
