The Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore (NUS) is pleased to establish a new Professorship in Intellectual Property Law. The Professorship, named after the late Mr Yong Shook Lin, has been made possible through a generous donation of S$2 million by his son, the Honourable the Chief Justice Dr Yong Pung How and Mrs Yong. Furthermore, this donation attracts a matching government grant, bringing the total to S$4 million. The Yong Shook Lin Professorship will be used to bring
in an eminent visiting academic in the field of Intellectual Property Law to
NUS each year. It will be a significant boost to the NUS Faculty of Law's
plans to help
Mr Yong Shook Lin was a prominent member of the legal profession, having been Chairman of the Federation of Malaya Bar Council and also a member of the Legislative and Executive Councils. He was also the Honorary Secretary-General of the Malayan Chinese Association from 1949-1952. Associate Professor Tan Cheng Han, Dean of NUS Law

Established in 1959, NUS Faculty of Law is a top law school. The Faculty has an internationally trained team of professors. Its core curriculum is designed to give undergraduates a foundation in fundamental law principles, practical skills and diverse perspectives on law. Students can also select from an extensive menu of elective subjects. The Faculty also offers coursework and research degrees in law; including specialist masters degrees in corporate and financial services law, international and comparative law, and intellectual property and technology law.
