ACHIEVEMENTS OF HIS MAJESTY SULTAN ISKANDAR OF JOHOR

HM Sultan Iskandar’s rule has been distinguished by his affection for his people.  In times of difficulty, he has provided comfort and relief to his subjects and is also patron to many voluntary organisations that work for the benefit of Johoreans.

Under the guidance of HM Sultan Iskandar, there has been significant improvement in Johor’s economy which has in turn resulted in greater prosperity to the State and improvement to the lives of its people.  Under HE Sultan Iskandar’s leadership, the close friendship between Johor and Singapore has grown deeper and this close cooperation between Johor and Singapore has enhanced stability, security and growth for both sides.

Johor is today one of the key engines of growth in Malaysia, with the launch of the Iskandar Development Region, aptly named after His Majesty, opening up a new chapter in Johor’s economic development.

Other noteworthy recipients of the Doctor of Laws degree include Mr. Paul John Keating, former Prime Minister of Australia; General Prem Tinsulanonda, former Thailand Prime Minister and Defence Minister; Dr. David Saul Marshall, former Chief Minister of Singapore; and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam.
