NUS Faculty of Law congratulates our alumni Walter Woon ’81 on his appointment as Attorney-General and Mrs Koh Juat Jong ’88 on her appointment as Solicitor-General Professor Walter Woon ’81, who has served as Solicitor-General since July 2007, will take over from Mr Chao Hick Tin, who returns to the judiciary as a Judge of Appeal at the Supreme Court after his two-year term as Attorney-General. Professor Woon was called to the Singapore Bar in 1985 and served as Vice-Dean of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Faculty of Law. He was a Nominated Member of Parliament from 1992 to 1996 and also served as legal adviser to the President and Council of Presidential Advisors from 1995 to 1997. Mrs Koh Juat Jong ’88, will take over as the new Solicitor-General, relinquishing her post as Registrar of the Supreme Court which she has held since December 2003. Mrs Koh, a president’s scholar, is the first woman to be appointed as Solicitor-General in the Attorney-General’s Chambers. Deputy Registrar Mr Foo Chee Hock ’84 has been appointed as Acting Registrar from 11 April 2007.
