Associate Professor Michael Ewing-Chow lectures at Japan’s Ministry of Justice seminars 

At the invitation of the Ministry of Justice, Japan, Associate Professor Michael Ewing-Chow was recently in Osaka to present on the actuality of derivative actions in Singapore at a Seminar on Derivative Actions in Asia. The Ministry’s Research and Training Institute (RTI), in collaboration with the International Civil and Commercial Law Centre (ICCLC) established the “Study Group on Derivative Suits in Asia” in 2006. The Group consists of corporate law and corporate business practice specialists of Japan. 

As part of its study activities, the Group invited experts from China, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan to present the outline, history, and actual status of derivation actions systems in each area. 

Michael also delivered a lecture at the International Seminar on Civil and Commercial Law. This seminar was organised by RTI and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Participants included government officials and law practitioners involved in law-making and operation of investment and corporate law in CLMV countries.
