Associate Professor Simon Tay chairs Session at World Cities Summit

In the week starting Monday 24 June, Singapore hosted over 5000 delegates from all over the world for a combined World Cities Summit and International Water Week. Associate Professor Simon Tay featured in the meeting to chair the closing plenary session on the way ahead for cities and sustainable development. Panelists were Singapore’s Senior Minister of State Grace Fu, who spoke on the eco-city project in Tianjin; Wellington Mayor Kerry Pendragrast; Brunei’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Dato Paduka Hj Hamdillah Hj Abd Wahab who spoke about the Heart of Borneo initiative, and Alfonso Vegara, President of the Fundación Metrópoli in Spain.

The Conference was opened by Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong and also featured Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean, Environment Minister Yaacob Ibrahim and National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan.

At the NUS, Prof Tay offers courses on international law and policy and also on the intersection between law and public policy.
