New Publication-Tan Sook Yee’s Principles of Singapore Land Law by Tang Hang Wu and Kelvin FK Low (HKU)

Associate Professor Tang Hang Wu is the co-editor of the 3rd edition of Tan Sook Yee’s Principles of Singapore Land Law.  The publication of the first edition of this book was hailed as “a milestone of legal texts” by Leslie Chew S.C. This book is widely cited by the Singapore Courts and regarded by many as the most authoritative text on Singapore land law. Speaking of the second edition of the text, Leslie Chew S.C. noted that “a legal practitioner who needs to familiarise himself with the fundamentals of land law in Singapore need go no further than this book”.

In this third edition, Professor Tan Sook Yee is joined by Associate Professors Tang Hang Wu (NUS) and Kelvin FK Low (HKU) in updating the text.  Expert guest editors, Mr Vincent Hoong (Chief Executive, Singapore Land Authority) and Mr Bryan Chew (Director, Singapore Land Authority), have also been invited to update Chapter 23 on “Planning and development of land” to reflect such significant developments to planning and development as the Master Plan 2008. The updates have been extensive, to take into account what has recently been described by VK Rajah JA as a “sea change” in Singapore land law and many chapters have been substantially re-written to take these changes into account.  Chan Sek Keong CJ in his foreword to this book described this volume as an “important and valuable textbook” and commended the editors for discharging their duties in bringing out this edition “with distinction (as is evident from the learning displayed in the text).”
