NUS Faculty of Law to become a member of Association of Transnational Law Schools (ATLAS)
In this new initiative involving the Faculty’s PhD students, a consortium of law schools known as the Association of Transnational Law Schools (ATLAS) - http://www.atlasdoctorate.com has invited the NUS Faculty of Law to become a member. Other member institutions are: Université de Montréal, Universidad de Deusto, New York University School of Law, Osgoode Hall Law School York University, University of Melbourne, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Cape Town and Bar-Ilan University.
ATLAS's flagship event is an annual Agora, rotated among member schools, that is open to PhD candidates from the member institutions. The PhD students get together for 2 weeks' worth of discussions on their theses, as well as on research methodologies. The first Agora was hosted last year by Osgoode Hall and this year's in June will be hosted by the LSE.
The Faculty of Law’s full membership begins in 2010, although it has been invited to send one PhD student this year. The Faculty’s representative this year is Benjamin Vincents, who is writing on IT Law. Benjamin was selected in an open competition, and colleagues supervising the nominees were asked to submit progress reports on their students.
