WTO Regional Trade Policy Course (RTPC) for Asia/Pacific 2009 draws to a close after a 3rd successful run at NUS Faculty of Law
Diploma Ceremony and Closing Dinner

The 12-week WTO Regional Trade Policy Course (RTPC) for Asia/Pacific 2009 held its Diploma Ceremony and Closing Dinner on 5 August 2009 (Wednesday) at the Supreme Court Level 8 Viewing Gallery. The Guest-of-Honour for the event was Miss Indranee Rajah, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC. Miss Rajah was the Patroness for this year’s RTPC.

Following speeches from Professor Tan Cheng Han, SC, Dean, Faculty of Law, and Mr Patrick Low, Director, Economic Research and Statistics Division, WTO, the RTPC participants received their WTO-NUS RTPC diplomas from Miss Indranee Rajah who also delivered the closing address.

This year’s RTPC featured a total of 24 participants from 22 countries who benefitted from courses jointly delivered by trade policy specialists from universities in the region, including the NUS, and officials from the WTO Secretariat.

This is the third consecutive year that the NUS Faculty of Law is hosting the course in partnership with the WTO, after two very successful runs in 2007 and 2008. Programmes like the RTPC have helped the developing countries in building their capacity to participate more effectively in the WTO and to optimize the benefits of the multilateral trading system.
