NUS tops 2004 Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition         
 

NUS Faculty of Law defeated the University of Indonesia in the Final Round of the 2004 Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition in Tokyo to come out tops. Gitta Juwita, one of NUS team members, was named the Best Oralist in the competition. Gitta was a member of the NUS 2004 Vis Moot Team, while the other member of the NUS team, Melanie Chng, was a member of the NUS 2004 Jessup Team. Both are final-year law students.

The Competition was held from 26-28 August and focussed on International Humanitarian Law. NUS faced University of Philippines and Tsinghua University in their preliminary rounds. NUS Faculty of Law also won the Competition when they first participated in 2001. A total of 10 teams participated in the 2004 Competition. Most of the other teams in the competition, including the 3 teams NUS defeated, had 4-5 members on their team.

The competition is sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. All participating teams enjoyed an official four-day tour of Tokyo after the Competition.
