Ipshita is a partner at Dentons Rodyk LLP in the firm’s Environment and Natural Resources practice. Prior to this, she was the founding partner of C&C Advisors, an award-winning law firm that works exclusively on matters around sustainable development including international public environmental law, policy, clean-technology, green investments and supply chains, carbon finance, water and oceans. Ipshita is an alumna of the National University of Juridical Sciences, India [BA, LLB (Hons)] and the University of Melbourne (LLM in Environment and Energy Law). Ipshita has over 13 years of experience and has worked with businesses, governments (Indian, European, and the MENA region) and international organisations to build and move the environmental sector forward in policy-making and business.

Research

“Structuring ESG and green finance based on an Asia-centric approach by reconciling global trends with Asia’s development needs”

Ipshita’s research interests are:

  • to identify gaps in national and international laws that impede the transition to a low-carbon economy.
  • integrating sustainability into supply chains and harmonizing laws in different jurisdictions
  • studying comparative biodiversity laws and access to genetic resources, benefit-sharing models.
  • security and rule of law issues related to ocean law and policy – deep-sea mining, shipping and sulphur 2020, biodiversity beyond national jurisdictions.
