About the Event
The unanimous ICJ Advisory Opinion on Obligations of States in Respect of Climate Change affirms that climate change treaties are legally binding and that all states have customary international law obligations to prevent significant harm to the environment. This workshop aims to uncover the significance of the advisory opinion and its potential implications for investment arbitration. Two panels of leading academics and practitioners will offer original, forward-looking analysis on the implications of the opinion for ongoing and future investment arbitration disputes. The discussions will take place under the Chatham House Rule.
