Vice-Chancellor's Message

Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh

Dear Members of the ASLI Family & other Academic Scholars,

It gives me great pleasure to announce the Call for Papers for the 17th ASLI Conference. The Conference will be held from 3 - 4 June, 2020 at the National Law University, Delhi located in the pristine capital of India - New Delhi. Legal Education in India has undergone a paradigm shift for the last more than two decades and the NLU Delhi has played a key role in shaping these changes while preparing students, teachers and young advocates for emerging challenges and to solve existing ones with a clear vision and most importantly, a belief that it could be achieved. The primary mission of NLU, Delhi is to create lawyers who will be professionally competent, technically sound and socially relevant.

The theme for the conference is “Law and Justice in Asia”.

Being the largest continent in the world both in size and population, the Asian diaspora have been facing a systematic challenge for resolving their disputes, enforcement of their rights and access to their genuine benefits for which they are legally entitled to. There is an urgent need to reform the dysfunctional laws, policies and practices and at the same time protect the lawful rights of the vulnerable citizens supplementing strong dispute resolution mechanisms. I am sure the thematic sessions of the conference would touch the right notes and kindle the probable solutions to the variety of challenges faced in Asia related to Justice.

The NLU Delhi deems it an honour for hosting this important international conference and shall endeavour to make it a great success. We all look forward to welcoming you to New Delhi and provide a mutually exclusive platform to share your ideas to make this a grand event.

I am sure through this conference the various scholarly papers presented will be able to showcase the challenges faced in the new millennium and also the challenges created by globalization and terrorism, at the same time address the imperatives of sustainable development millennium goals.

Seasons' greetings and best wishes,
Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh
