In the University of Mandalay, the Department of Law was opened in the year 1993 and introduced undergraduate law courses. However, the Department stopped offering undergraduate courses in 1996 with the closure of the University due to the political situations. Master of Laws programs were introduced in 1998. LLB courses were introduced again from 2013-2014 Academic Year. The PhD programs are introduced in 2010. Currently, our department offers LLB courses, LLM courses, MRes. (Master of Research program), PhD courses, Diploma in Business Law Courses and Diploma in International Law Courses. Under the undergraduate programs, there are 45 students admitted who are selected based on their academic performance in matriculation area. There are 83 LLM students and 8 MRes students. There are 9 prelimiary students to PhD courses and 44 students doing research under PhD programs. There are totally 415 students studying under diploma courses. Currently, there are two professors, and 30 teaching staffs working in the Department.
