[CALS] Comparative Commercial Law Speaker Series: “Finfluencers and Other Tech Disruptions to Corporate Law – Insights from South Korea and India”

September 27, 2024

On 26 September 2024, the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS) at the National University of Singapore hosted, as part of its Comparative Commercial Law Speaker Series, the seminar, titled “Finfluencers and Other Tech Disruptions to Corporate Law – Insights from South Korea and India”. The guest speaker was Associate Professor Akshaya Kamalnath from the Australian National University, and the event was moderated by Associate Professor Lin Lin.

Professor Kamalnath discussed the disruptive impact of technology on corporate law, focusing on the rise of finfluencers—social media personalities offering personal finance and investment advice. The seminar explored the regulatory challenges associated with finfluencers, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that any regulation addresses the negative aspects without stifling the benefits.
