Description

This project explores what is termed “contextual analysis” of constitutional systems, a concept that arises inter alia from the publication of books on 11 Asian countries (namely Pakistan, India, China, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and the Independent states of Central Asia), in the Hart Publishing/Bloomsbury series “Constitutional Systems of the World”. Convened by Professor Andrew Harding in NUS Faculty of Law, a founding editor of this book series and a leading scholar of Asian comparative constitutional law, this conference brings together (i) the Hart/Bloomsbury series general editors to reflect on general conceptual and methodological questions, and (ii) scholars who authored the published books to offer further thoughts on “contextual analysis” in a way that has not yet been considered in their books.
