The inaugural Applied Law in Asia Series (ALIAS) course on “Comparative Corporate Law and Governance in Asia: Understanding Developments in Singapore through Asian Lenses” took place this week from 27 to 29 July 2021.

Organised by the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS) in collaboration with the NUS Law Academy (NLA), the programme commenced with welcome remarks by Assoc Prof Jaclyn Neo, CALS Director at Module 1 of the course.

Nearly 30 participants benefitted from the 3 virtual modules and course materials presented by Associate Professor Dan W. Puchniak of NUS Law on “Independent Directors in Singapore and Asia”, “Derivative Actions in Singapore and Asia” and “Shareholder Stewardship in Singapore and Asia”. The programme was also SILE-accredited with CPD points for Singapore lawyers. CALS is proud to have organised the inaugural course for ALIAS with NLA.

The Applied Law in Asia Series (ALIAS) aims to offer the legal community in Singapore and the region the opportunity to develop meaningful and practical insights into various areas of law as practised by the rich and diverse jurisdictions in Asia. Comprising short programs spanning a range of issues from foundational topics to new legal developments or emerging areas of law across Asia, the program provides focused content for legal practitioners with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points for Singapore lawyers.
