On 25 April 2024, the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS) organized a Virtual Roundtable on Asian Law (ViRAL) session focused on the Indonesian Constitutional Court over the past two decades. The panel featured Stefanus Hendrianto from Pontificia Universita Gregoriana, Dian A H Shah from the National University of Singapore, Dian Rositawati from Stanford University, and Susi Dwi Harijanti from Padjadjaran University as speakers.

During the session, they examined the challenges faced by Indonesia’s Constitutional Court and explored potential areas for improvement. Ratu Durotun Nafisah from the National University of Singapore moderated the discussion, facilitating the dialogue around strengthening this key judicial institution. The roundtable provided an opportunity to critically analyze the Constitutional Court’s role and impact over the last twenty years within Indonesia’s legal landscape.
