Visiting Senior Research Fellow, Dr Jianlin Chen, visited CALS from 2 to 25 January 2020. As part of his ongoing research, Dr Chen presented his working paper “Same, Same but Different?: A Comparative Study of Fraudulent Sex Criminalization in Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong” at a CALS Seminar.

Dr Chen is an Associate Professor in Melbourne Law School. His current primary research interests are in the areas of law & religion and criminal law, with a particular focus on legal responses to religious and/or sexual fraud, and through a combination of comparative perspectives and economic analysis. CALS is very pleased to have had Dr Chen visit us!

“It has been a wonderful and productive stay at CALS and NUS. I made huge progress on my ongoing comparative research on sexual offence in Asia, benefiting tremendously from the many engaging and enjoyable discussions with the various members of CALS and NUS community, both during the CALS Seminar and throughout the stay. Most grateful for the privileged opportunity to partake in this vibrant research hub!” – Dr Jianlin Chen
