
Stephen Brogan–Jones Day Legal Fellowship on the Rule of Law is generously supported by the Jones Day Foundation and administered through the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS) at NUS Law. The Fellowship reflects our shared commitment to advancing scholarship, dialogue, and practical engagement on the rule of law.
Eligibility
- The Fellowship is open to highly qualified mid-career practitioners, distinguished judges (current or retired), and accomplished academics with an established track record in their fields.
Duration
- The Fellowship supports a research visit to NUS Law for one to six months duration.
Fellowship Obligations
- Conduct research during the Fellowship on a topic of their choice, relating to the rule of law;
- Deliver a public seminar or lecture on a topic relating to the rule of law, relevant to students and the legal profession in Singapore (Singapore Institute of Legal Education/SILE-certified);
- Engage with NUS faculty, students, and members of Singapore’s legal community;
- Participate, where possible, in seminars, roundtables, and workshops hosted by NUS Law; and
- Acknowledge the support of the Jones Day Foundation and NUS Law / CALS in any resulting publications.
Fellowship Entitlements
- Return airfare to Singapore;
- A competitive monthly stipend to support accommodation and living expenses for the duration of the fellowship;
- An office space at CALS; and
- Full library access (online and offline).
Selection
- The selection of Legal Fellows will be based on their experience, reputation, fit with the programme.
- In addition, selection may take into account the need to ensure gender and cultural diversity.
