Description
Abstract
Module 2: Policy and Regulatory Framework for Sustainable Finance
The session deals with the policy and regulatory framework for sustainable finance. It examines the drivers for sustainable finance regulation, including the need to prevent mis-selling as well as connect allocative goals to sustainable causes. It examines the leading regulatory framework for sustainable investment products in the EU which is grounded on the Sustainable Financial Disclosure Regulation and the Taxonomy Regulation, as well as the influence of these regulations outside of the EU. These are compared with the narrower ambitions found in the US’ and UK’s regulatory policies which are more narrowly targeted at mis-selling. The session focuses on how sustainable investment products are being brought into a framework of regulation that intervenes into the scope of asset management strategies developed so far.
