Nelson Goh is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Banking and Finance Law, with research interests spanning deep tech and artificial intelligence, global AI regulatory frameworks, sovereign AI, banking systems, and frontier issues in commercial law.

He has published widely in leading journals including the Journal of Business Law, Arbitration International, Lloyd’s Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly, and the Journal of International Arbitration, and is the co-author of the Oxford University Press Commentary to the Singapore International Arbitration Act. His work has been cited by the UK Supreme Court.

His current research projects are:

  • Conflicts of Law and Cryptoassets
  • Sovereign AI and the Banking System

Nelson holds a First Class LL.M. from the University of Cambridge (Cambridge Trust Scholar and Prudence-Chevening Scholar), an LL.M. in International Law from New York University, and an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore, where he was placed on the Overall Dean’s List. He has also attended London Business School’s Generative AI programme.

Alongside academic work, Nelson practised as a partner at Pallas Partners LLP, a Chambers-ranked disputes boutique, at U.S. firms Debevoise & Plimpton and Boies Schiller Flexner, and Rajah & Tann Singapore. He was nominated for TrustLaw’s Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year in 2022.

Nelson served as a Naval Officer in the Singapore Armed Forces, where he was awarded the Sword of Honour as valedictorian of his Officer Cadet cohort and was ranked second on his Naval Diver course.
