Kai Loon is a derivatives lawyer who is dual-qualified in Singapore and the United Kingdom. He has substantial international and regional experience, having practised in London, Hong Kong and Singapore with Allen & Gledhill, Ashurst and Linklaters. Kai Loon specialises in OTC derivative transactions, covering all asset classes with a particular focus on corporate equity derivatives, repurchase transactions, securities lending transactions and finance hedging. He also advises on Singapore law issues relating to derivatives and structured finance, including netting and collateral. Kai Loon also speaks regularly at ISDA conferences on topics relating to the ISDA Master Agreement and other ISDA documentation and OTC regulatory reforms. Kai Loon’s recent experience includes advising both international and local banks on the global implementation of mandatory margin requirements for non-centrally cleared OTC derivative transactions and acting for the issuer of USD 2 billion performance-linked notes in connection with the pre-IPO financing of Postal Savings Bank of China.
