Description

Synopsis

There’s perhaps no more exciting time to be a lawyer in the technology sector. As innovation accelerates, tech lawyers are often “making the road by walking,” navigating uncharted legal terrain while helping shape fast‑evolving regulatory frameworks across areas such as privacy, cybersecurity, AI governance, digital platforms, fintech, employment, and competition law.

But how does one build a legal career in tech? What pathways have successfully led lawyers into this space? What skills do technology companies look for in candidates today—particularly amid emerging developments such as AI‑specific regulation and cross‑border data governance? And what is day‑to‑day life actually like as an in‑house tech lawyer in 2026?

These questions and more will be explored through the APAC Tech Legal Externship, a program designed for 3rd and 4th year law students, trainee lawyers, and lawyers in their first or second year of practice based in Singapore who are interested in connecting with experienced in‑house counsel in the tech industry.

Join the founders and organizers of the APAC Tech Legal Externship for a panel discussion on life as an in‑house tech lawyer and an overview of the 2026 edition of the program. The session will cover current legal and regulatory trends shaping tech‑sector practice and provide plenty of time for Q&A.
