About the Speakers

Kelvin Tan
Director, Dispute Resolution,

Drew & Napier

Kelvin read law at the National University in Singapore, and joined Drew &Napier following graduation.
Kelvin has an active practice in litigation and international arbitration. He also co-heads the Employment and Hotels and Leisure Practices. He is also a member of the firm’s Recruitment Committee.

He has litigated complex commercial disputes in a wide range of areas, including insurance, intellectual property, fraud and breach of fiduciary duties, international arbitration, investment and shareholder disputes, and trusts.

He has represented clients in international arbitrations under various institutional rules such as the SIAC, ICC, LCIA, AIAC and UNCITRAL rules.

Kenneth Wong
Chief Operating Officer,

Drew Network Asia

In 2025, Kenneth was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of Drew Network Asia, a blue-chip regional network of premium legal firms including Drew & Napier LLC in Singapore, Makarim & Taira S. from Indonesia, Shearn Delamore & Co. from Malaysia, Martinez Vergara & Gonzalez Sociedad from Philippines and Tilleke & Gibbins from Thailand.

Lu Yuan LEONG
Director,

Classis LLC (associated with Clyde & Co)

Leong Lu Yuan is a Senior Accredited Specialist (Maritime & Shipping) with extensive experience in high-value and complex shipping, marine insurance, international trade and commercial disputes before the Singapore Courts and in international arbitration, and has been recognised as a Litigation Star(Shipping) by Benchmark Litigation. She regularly leads regional matters involving teams and proceedings across multiple jurisdictions. Her experience offers practical insight into cross-border legal practice, collaboration across Clyde & Co’s regional network and the opportunities available to interns working in an international law firm.

Mirella Ang Yuan Ning
LL.B Year 4, NUS Law

Mirella Ang is a fourth-year undergraduate at NUS Law who spent two weeks in July 2026 interning at Martinez Vergara & Gonzalez Sociedad (MVGS) in Manila. MVGS is a leading Philippine law firm and a member of Drew Network Asia, a “firm of firms” that includes Singapore’s Drew & Napier and spans nine Southeast Asian countries. Her internship covered a bit of everything under the sun: client meetings, court sessions, court filings, and research on company structures. Her biggest challenge was figuring out where to find the right legal resources, and her favourite part was the laid-back office and strong camaraderie. Her advice to fellow students: put yourself out there, try new things, and go exploring!

Phua Zo Ey
LL.B Year 3, NUS Law

Phua Zo Ey is a third-year law student who recently completed an internship with Clyde & Co in Shanghai. During the internship, Zoey gained experience in litigation and arbitration. She assisted with drafting both English and Chinese submissions and helped with writing articles on developments in China’s maritime law. The overseas stint offered insight into legal practice in a different jurisdiction and the cross-border nature of work at an international law firm.

Zoey has received several academic book prizes, including the Peter English Memorial Prize in Criminal Law, the Clyde & Co Clasis Prize in Introduction to Legal Theory, the Allen & Gledhill Prize in Company Law, the Lai Kew Chai Prize in Equity & Trusts, and the Rajah & Tann Prize in Legal Systems of Asia. Drawing on her experience in Shanghai, she is happy to share practical tips and advice with fellow students interested in pursuing overseas internships.

Nathania How
LL.B Year 3, NUS Law

Nathania How is a Year 3 law student who recently completed a month-long internship at the Intellectual Property High Court of Korea over the summer. During her internship, she assisted the Presiding Judge with comparative international intellectual property law research and proposed recommendations to the Korean judiciary on strengthening South Korea’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) framework, both domestically and internationally. Her findings were presented to members of the Korean judiciary, leading to an invitation to speak at a judicial colloquium on the future development of South Korea’s ADR landscape.

As a student who has dabbled in international dispute resolution competitions, Nathania was fortunate to see these skills come into play while observing an on-site mediation process and criminal trial respectively. The experience also deepened her understanding of the role of WIPO in intellectual property dispute resolution, as well as Singapore’s approach to mediation and arbitration. Overall, the internship had provided a valuable foray into intellectual property law and equipped her with a comparative legal perspective through interactions with her colleagues and legal professionals.
