Ever wondered what it’s really like to work overseas as a lawyer? Or do you have burning questions about how to thrive in an international firm?  Come join us for this lunchtime careers talk by a senior lawyer from NUS Law Class of 2007 who has worked in a Big 4 firm as well as an international firm, to have all your questions answered.

This talk will be especially helpful for Law students who are keen to improve your industry or commercial awareness, in order to better prepare for training contract interviews.

Issues which will be discussed include:

  • How’s it like to work overseas as a lawyer?
  • What are the differences between working in a local firm and an international firm?
  • What are some of the challenges and opportunities for lawyers in Myanmar?
  • What are some practical tips which will facilitate cross-cultural collaboration?

About the Speaker

Wanjing Goh
Partner (Real Estate), Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP – Singapore

Wanjing is a highly experienced transactional infrastructure, construction and engineering lawyer, advising on all aspects of major infrastructure and real estate development projects in Asia. She has expertise in the power, renewables, infrastructure and hospitality and leisure sectors, and has advised on project development and the full suite of construction and consultancy agreements in international forms such as FIDIC and Singapore standard forms including PSSCOC and SIA Conditions of Contract.

She has acted for major owners and contractors in a spectrum of dispute resolution proceedings, including arbitration, litigation and adjudication under the Security of Payments Act.

Wanjing is an Accredited Specialist in Building and Construction Law in Singapore, and was part of a select group of construction law practitioners that was accredited in the inaugural batch of 2018. Wanjing also sits on the committee of the Women in Energy, Asia Society as well as the British Chamber of Commerce Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

She was based in Myanmar previously and acted as Country Representative of her previous firm. She has advised Myanmar clients on matters related to property development, construction and hospitality. She was also recommended in legal directories for her Corporate and M&A as well as Projects (including energy) work in Myanmar.
