They will also share some insight into life as a lawyer in a global law firm and some tips on the steps that you can take towards building a rewarding career in international arbitration.

About the Speakers

KC Lye
Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright (Asia) LLP

KC Lye heads the dispute resolution department in the Singapore office of Norton Rose Fulbright (Asia) LLP. He is highly regarded for international arbitration having been involved in a variety of contested matters in Southeast Asia.

KC handles high-value disputes across a range of industry sectors, with a focus on energy and aviation disputes and commercial fraud. Whether acting as counsel or as solicitor, he has represented clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings in London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

KC is named in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific in its Hall of Fame for international arbitration. He publishes and lectures extensively on international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Accolades include “tactically astute”, Chambers and Partners, 2019, and “commercially astute and an experienced tactician” The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, 2019.

A solicitor in England and Wales and an advocate and solicitor in Singapore, KC is also a fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, accepting appointments as arbitrator.

Katie Chung
Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright (Asia) LLP

Katie Chung is a disputes and international arbitration partner in Norton Rose Fulbright in Singapore. With more than a decade of experience, Katie has advised and represented both private and state-owned clients in Asia related complex arbitrations conducted under all major institutional and ad hoc arbitration rules. Katie has extensive contentious experience in commodities, infrastructure, oil & gas, renewable energy, the power sector, and technology related disputes. Apart from acting as lead counsel, Katie sits as arbitrator and has been appointed as arbitrator in SIAC, HKIAC and ICC arbitrations seated in Singapore and Hong Kong. She is on the reserve panel of arbitrators of the SIAC, the List of Arbitrators of the HKIAC, the Panel of International Arbitrators of the KCAB and the Panel of Arbitrators of the THAC. She also regularly publishes and speaks on international arbitration. Katie is consistently recognized as a “Rising Star” by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, and by Who’s Who Legal as Future Leader in International Arbitration. She is named by Singapore Business Review as one of Singapore’s most influential lawyers under 40. Most recently, Katie was named a Rising Star in Euromoney’s 2021 Rising Stars Expert Guide in Commercial Arbitration.
