Come join us for this lunchtime careers talk by our guest speakers from Norton Rose Fulbright. They will be sharing:

  • their exciting career journeys since graduating from Law school;
  • how project lawyers can facilitate decarbonization and the energy transition; and
  • some common issues which they have to deal with in relation to responsible capital and sustainability.

About the Speakers

Nick Merritt

Norton Rose Fulbright

Nick Merritt is a project finance and banking lawyer with a particular focus on sustainability and sustainable finance.

Nick focuses on major infrastructure projects, advising clients across a diverse range of sectors including biofuels, defence, mining, petrochemicals, ports, power generation, rail, renewables, roads, satellites, sport and leisure infrastructure, water and waste.

Nick advises clients on the development of sustainability strategies. He supports companies in identifying their sustainability opportunities and risks; business transformation and the development of sustainable financial investments, particularly those aimed at mobilizing capital into the energy transition and the financing of sustainable infrastructure.

Nick is named in Legal 500’s Hall of Fame for his outstanding work in the projects space. He has been recommended as a Global Leader for Project Finance in Who’s Who Legal 2022.

 

Laurie Pearson
Counsel, Singapore
Norton Rose Fulbright

Laurie Pearson is a Counsel based in the projects team in Singapore. She specialises in the development, financing and acquisition of power and renewable projects. Laurie has advised sponsors, lenders, export credit agencies and governments on all aspects of project development and financing. In particular, she focuses on power purchase agreements, concession agreements, government guarantees, construction and other project related agreements associated with conventional power and renewable projects. She has advised on projects in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Laurie has more than 16 years of experience working in Asia.

Laurie is recognised as a Rising Star in Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2022.

 

Tamara Ubink
Associate, Singapore
Norton Rose Fulbright

Tamara is a banking and finance lawyer currently based in Singapore on a secondment from the Amsterdam office of Norton Rose Fulbright. Tamara focuses on sustainable finance, mostly in the project finance and asset finance sectors and often with an export credit agency cover. She has experience advising international and Dutch banks, financial institutions and corporates and regularly advises on “first-off” transactions containing innovative solutions. Prior to joining us, Tamara worked as legal counsel financial markets at Rabobank, focusing on financial regulation and derivative transactions. Besides her work at Norton Rose Fulbright, Tamara is currently involved in the writing and publication of multiple articles relating to ESGs and sustainable finance.
