About the Speakers
Sheena Jacob ’88
Partner, CMS Singapore
Sheena is a leading Asian regional technology lawyer with strong cybersecurity, media, privacy and technology al expertise at CMS Singapore. Holding US, England & Wales and Singapore qualifications as well as double international privacy certifications from the IAPP, Sheena has been active in technology in Asia for more than 25 years. She represents a significant number of industry players in the media industry including several of the leading streaming platforms and has strong experience with cybersecurity and data protection issues across Asia. She represents a number of the top technology global players on issues across Asia. Sheena works closely with a team of technology lawyers and advises on regulatory issues in the media, telecoms and tech sectors in Asia. Sheena is consistently ranked as a top 50 TMT lawyer in Asia and is known for her sound, commercial and practical advice. She has also handled a number of high profile data cyber incidents and ransomware attacks and works closely with clients to resolve issues with customers and regulators. She is one of only a few women lawyers active in the cybersecurity and AI space in Asia and has advised clients on complex legal issues involving AI, quantum safe networks and digital infrastructure.
Sheena has been on the Global Board of iTechlaw, the first Singaporean to hold this post as well as the IAPP Asia Advisory Board and the Board of AmCham Singapore. She was also the only lawyer in Singapore listed as one of the Top Women in Cybersecurity and has written numerous articles on privacy, cybersecurity and the regulation of AI. She currently sits on a number of industry committees including BritCham Singapore, AIPPI Singapore.

Tony Yeo is the Managing Director of Drew & Napier’s Intellectual Property (IP) practice, and a Director in its Dispute Resolution department. He also heads the firm’s Healthcare & Life Sciences practice. Tony’s expertise lies in litigation, in particular, IP litigation and enforcement comprising patent, trade mark and copyright. He was one of the select few IP practitioners appointed by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) as an IP Adjudicator to adjucate disputes at IPOS for a two-year term from April 2019. Tony is also the President of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) – Singapore Group.

A leading TMT and data protection lawyer in Singapore, Steve Tan has been consistently recognized in prestigious legal directories including Chambers Asia Pacific, Legal 500, and Who’s Who Legal. Named 2022 “Lawyer of the Year” for Information Technology Law by Best Lawyers and Data Privacy and Protection Lawyer of the Year at the ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2023, he is widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities in data protection and cybersecurity law in the Asia-Pacific region.
Steve served as Adjunct Professor at NUS Law from 2019-2024, teaching its Privacy & Data Protection law course. He holds Senior Accredited Specialist status from the Singapore Academy of Law in Data & Digital Economy Law. He sits on the Asian Advisory Board of the IAPP and co-founded Rajah & Tann Technologies and Rajah & Tann Cybersecurity, pioneering a comprehensive one-stop data breach response service for organizations.
Cheah Yew Kuin ’02

Yew Kuin presently holds the designation of Assistant Chief Counsel, Antipiracy at Disney, and is responsible for all antipiracy matters arising from the company’s various business units based in the Asia Pacific Region. Yew Kuin also works closely with the Government Relations team to liaise with local government bodies to engage on novel legislative issues relating to both Copyright and AI.
Prior his current role, Yew Kuin was practicing in an International Law Firm and has over a decade of experience of working with a variety of domestic and multinational clients in dealing with commercial and contentious IP and anti-piracy matters both in Singapore, and in various other territories in the APAC region.
Joyce Ang ’04

Joyce Ang has nearly 20 years’ of experience in the field of intellectual property law. Her experience spans private practice, in-house positions at multinational companies, and responsibilities outside conventional legal functions. Currently, she is a Senior Lead for Global IP Enforcement at Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group. Drawing on her diverse background, she offers a well-rounded perspective on the intersection of intellectual property law and business realities.

Professor David Tan

Professor David Tan holds a PhD from Melbourne Law School (2010), a LLM from Harvard (1999), and graduated with a LLB (First Class Honours)/BCom from the University of Melbourne (1995). David was formerly with the Singapore Administrative Service, serving as Director of Sports at Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports (MCYS) and Director of International Talent at Ministry of Manpower (MOM). He has also had work experience at McKinsey & Company and DBS Bank, and at Australian law firms now known as Allens, King & Wood Mallesons and Herbert Smith Freehills.
At NUS Law, David pioneered courses in Fashion Law, Entertainment Law, Freedom of Speech and Privacy & Data Protection Law. His areas of research cover personality rights, copyright, trademarks, freedom of expression, constitutional law and tort law, and his articles have been cited on a number of occasions by the Supreme Court of Singapore.
David has published over 100 articles, comments, book chapters and review essays since joining NUS Law in 2008.
