ICJ Judicial Fellowship Programme
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) stands as the principal judicial organ of the United Nations (UN) where its role is “to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States and to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by authorized United Nations organs and specialized agencies.”
The Court has invited the NUS Faculty of Law to submit candidates for the abovementioned Judicial Fellowship Programme for 2025 - 2026 which will run from the period of September 2025 to June 2026.
Eligibility: Final year LL.B & J.D students, LLM students and Ph.D. students in the final year of their studies
Profile: Students with excellent credentials who are completing their course of studies and have demonstrated exceptional interest and excellence in the field of Public International Law. Students must have excellent English or French skills, and preferably a very good working knowledge of the other language.
Important: The position is unpaid and ICJ takes no responsibility for arranging travel, accommodation, insurance, or any other expense. NUS Law will provide support via the OIS and/or the International Dispute Settlement (IDS) Fellowship Grant to defray some costs, but other expenses would be borne by the successful candidate. Candidates must be Singapore Citizens/Singapore Permanent Residents to qualify for the IDS Grant.

Send an email to lawcareers@nus.edu.sg indicating “Application for ICJ Judicial Fellowship Programme” in the subject line and attaching a single PDF comprising an application package with the following documents:
- 2 or 3 letters of reference (preferably in your credentials in the field of International Law);
- A copy of your official academic transcripts; and
- A copy of your writing sample of no more than 15 pages (The sample may be work that has been submitted for publication or of publishable quality, preferably on a topic of public international law)
