Professor Stephen Girvin gave the opening remarks and moderated a panel discussion at a symposium, “Navigating the Waters: Maritime Law in the Modern Era”,  on 23 February 2024, organised by the Fordham International Law Journal (Fordham Law School, NYC). The symposium was attended by over 150 attendees, both in-person and via Zoom. The panel discussion offered diverse and critical insights into contemporary maritime legal challenges. It featured experts, including Dr William Moore, a Naval Architect discussing the latest maritime technologies, Mr Alan Weigel, Counsel at Blank Rome, and Mr George Tsimis, Marine Risks Consultant, Arbitrator, and Sanctions Specialist. Prof Girvin also delivered the keynote opening remarks, where he shared his insights on the current state of international maritime law alongside Professor Matthew Diller, Dean of Fordham Law.
