September 18, 2025 | Programmes

CML was pleased to host a downtown seminar on 18 September 2025 by Dr Sanam Saidova, Visiting Senior Fellow at the NUS Faculty of Law, where she has been teaching Trade Finance Law. Dr Saidova is an Assistant Professor in Law at the University of Nottingham and gave a presentation to researchers and legal practitioners specialising in maritime and aviation law. Dr Saidova’s focus was the Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment (CTC), which she covered in detail. Among other things, she discussed the concept of an international interest, the CTC’s notice filing system, asset-based international registers, relief pending final determination under article 13 of the CTC, and the remedies specific to aircraft objects. Also discussed was the 2012 case of PNC Equipment Finance LLC v Aviareto Limited and Link Aviation LLC. At the end of the seminar, practitioners at the Singapore bar had a lively Q&A with Dr Saidova on the CTC, with various questions on articles 8 and 13 of the CTC.
