Professor Captain Kim In Hyeon is a full time professor in Maritime Law and Marine Insurance Law and the director of Maritime Law Center at the School of Law, Korea University in Korea. He was a former master of Sanko Steamship Co Ltd, and he is a holder of valid Master’s license.

Professor Kim studied nautical science at Korea Maritime University and law at Korea University. He obtained his Master of Law and his PhD in Law at Korea University, and an LLM from the University of Texas at Austin.

Professor Kim’s teaching and research area extends across all areas of maritime law. He provides professional legal advice to the Korea Pilot Association, Korea Shipping Association, Korean Parliament and Korean courts as an external legal adviser. He is also an external director for the Inchon Port Authority. He participates as an advisory for the Korean government in meetings of the IOPC Fund, IMO Legal Committee and UNCITRAL Transport Law Project.

Professor Kim is the Chief Vice-President of Korean Maritime Law Association and is a member of the Planning Committee of CMI. He is also a member of the revision committee for Korean Commercial Code Maritime Law Section. He has published several English articles on maritime law in the Journal of Maritime Law & Commerce and is also co-founder of East Asia Maritime Law Forum, with member universities including Korea University, Dalian Maritime University, and Waseda University.
