Jaya Prakash graduated from the University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. Thereafter, with a break whilst he was in full-time national service, he was in legal practice until March 1998 when he became the exclusive correspondent for a well-known P&I Club. With effect from 1 September 2018, Jaya will be a full-time arbitrator and mediator.
Jaya was made a Fellow of the Singapore Insitute of Arbitrators in 2000 and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2000.
In recent years, Jaya has been sought after as an arbitrator in commercial, transnational and maritime disputes. He has a particular expertise in commercial and maritime law.
