Michael Tsimplis is a Professor at the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong. He was previously a Professor of Law and Ocean Sciences at the University of Southampton, where he was also Director of the Institute of Maritime Law 2014-2017. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography and LL.M. in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton.
Professor Tsimplis had visited NUS Law as part of the Visiting Teaching Faculty previously. His last visit was from 10-29 August 2021, where he taught the intensive module, Law of the Marine Environment.
His research interests are in the areas of Maritime Law, Environmental Law, Physical Oceanography, and Sea Level Change.
