Adelaide Law School visits NUS

September 28, 2015 | School

Twenty students from the Faculty of Law, University of Adelaide, led by Professor Melissa de Zwart and Associate Professor Christopher Symes, visited NUS Law on 28 September 2015 – the second stop on their Southeast Asian study trip.

Associate Professor David Tan, Vice Dean (Academic Affairs), together with Professor de Zwart, conducted a seminar on “The Future of Copyright Law” that covered controversial issues regarding copyright subsistence in compilation works, the right of public communication and fair dealing. A/P Tan commented that there is much for Australia and Singapore to learn from each other in the area of copyright law, and noted that a number of Australian cases have been referred to with approval by Singapore’s highest appellate court – the Court of Appeal.
