Launch of Centre for Law & Business by Chief Justice Menon
The official launch of the Centre for Law & Business (CLB) was held in conjunction with its inaugural intellectual property law conference on Framing Intellectual Property Law in the 21st Century – Integrating Incentives, Trade, Development, Culture and Human Rights on 14 August. This event was graced by The Honourable the Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon as the Guest-of-Honour, as well as other distinguished guests.
In his speech, Chief Justice Menon noted that Intellectual Property (IP) has become a key driver of economic growth globally, and is an important growth area for Singapore. The Honourable Chief Justice highlighted in particular that “we should look towards progressively building up a substantial body of IP knowledge that fills perhaps a gap in the existing scholarship at the moment and that is the Asia-centric perspective. This could represent a theoretical space that the Centre for Law & Business can fill.”
