Description

The rise of digital assets or crypto assets, and trading in them, has caught the attention of those in the financial sector as well as regulators around the world.  A key area of activity has been the extent to which securities regulation, or capital markets regulation, applies to these assets. Indeed, across the globe, there are a multitude of enforcement actions, court rulings and proposed statutory and regulatory reforms of securities regulations to address the rise of these assets.  This talk examines significant developments, discusses whether they appear likely to meet the central policy concerns in this area(s), and what might be important future directions for securities regulation and enforcement.
