It will introduce students to the underlying legal and economic concepts that underpin the statutory prohibitions against anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominance and mergers that substantially lessen competition. Each session will survey some of the landmark decisions of the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS), examine the relevant legislative provisions applicable to the scrutinised conduct and explore the broader policy implications of these features of the Singapore competition law framework.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\tLearning Objectives\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>This course aims to convey to its audience the following learning outcomes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>an understanding of the goals, characteristics and institutional setting of Singapore&#8217;s competition law framework;<\/li>\n<li>an analytical framework for identifying and evaluating potential infringements of competition law prohibitions;<\/li>\n<li>an awareness of the practical significance of competition law compliance to undertakings engaged in commercial transactions that prevent, restrict or distort competition in Singapore.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>\n\t\tWho Should Attend\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<ul>\n<li>Legal practitioners<\/li>\n<li>Corporate counsel<\/li>\n<li>Legal officers in government service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\tPre-requisites\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>A basic law degree. He obtained his undergraduate and graduate legal training at the National University of Singapore and Oxford University, where he was awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal and the Vinerian Scholarship, as well as at Harvard Law School. Apart from Competition Law, he teaches and researches in the areas of Contract Law, Intellectual Property Law and Biodiversity Law. He has taught competition law modules to undergraduate and graduate students, both with legal and non-legal backgrounds, as well as non-legally trained IP professionals. and<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">substitute completing all registration before course starts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>9.2\u00a0 We reserve the right to refuse a substitution where the substitute does not meet the course requirements or where substitution is not reasonably practicable.<\/p>\n<p><b>10.\u00a0 \u00a0Attendance and Certification<\/b><\/p>\n<p>10.1\u00a0 Participants must comply with the attendance, participation, and assessment requirements of the course.<br \/>10.2\u00a0 Certificates of attendance, participation, or completion will only be issued where the participant has met the relevant requirements for the course.<br \/>10.3\u00a0 No certificate will be issued where a participant fails to satisfy the stated requirements.<\/p>\n<p><b>11.\u00a0 \u00a0Participant Conduct<\/b><\/p>\n<p>11.1\u00a0 Participants are expected to behave respectfully and professionally towards trainers, staff, and other participants.<br \/>11.2\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/studentconduct.nus.edu.sg\/wp-content\/uploads\/NUS-Code-of-Student-Conduct.pdf\">Code of Learner Conduct<\/a>\u00a0is intended to guide learners&#8217; conduct by providing an overview of the behaviour generally expected of them as a member of the University community.<br \/>11.3\u00a0 We reserve the right to refuse admission to, or remove from a course, any participant whose behaviour is disruptive, abusive, unsafe, unlawful, or otherwise inappropriate.<br \/>11.4\u00a0 Unless required by law, no refund will be due where a participant is removed from a course due to misconduct.<\/p>\n<p><b>12.\u00a0 \u00a0Learning Materials and Intellectual Property<\/b><\/p>\n<p>12.1\u00a0 All course materials provided by us remain our property or the property of our licensors unless otherwise stated.<br \/>12.2\u00a0 Course materials are provided solely for the participant&#8217;s personal learning use or internal business use, as applicable, and must not be copied, reproduced, distributed, published, uploaded, recorded, sold, or shared without our prior written consent.<br \/>12.3\u00a0 Participants must not record any course session, whether by audio, video, screenshot, or other means, unless we have given prior written permission.<\/p>\n<p><b>13.\u00a0 \u00a0Online Courses and Technical Access<\/b><\/p>\n<p>13.1\u00a0 For online courses, participants are responsible for ensuring they have suitable internet access, compatible devices, software, and any other required technical capability.<br \/>13.2\u00a0 We are not responsible for a participant&#8217;s inability to attend or complete an online course due to the participant&#8217;s own technical issues, equipment failure, or internet connectivity problems. 13.3\u00a0 Technical difficulties experienced by participants do not constitute grounds for refund.<\/p>\n<p><b>14.\u00a0 \u00a0Personal Data<\/b><\/p>\n<p>14.1\u00a0 We may collect, use, store, and process personal data for purposes including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"2\">processing applications and registrations;<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\">communicating with applicants and participants;<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\">administering courses;<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\">processing payments;<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\">issuing certificates; and<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\">complying with legal or regulatory requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>14.2\u00a0 Our handling of personal data is in accordance with the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
