Ardavan ARZANDEH
Dr Ardavan Arzandeh joined NUS Law in 2021. Ardavan’s principal research expertise is in commercial conflict of laws. He is the author of Forum (Non) Conveniens in England: Past, Present, and Future (Hart Publishing, 2019) and a number of articles in prestigious peer-reviewed law journals in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore – including the Cambridge Law Journal, the Law Quarterly Review, Legal Studies, the Melbourne University Law Review, Singapore Journal of Legal Studies, the International & Comparative Law Quarterly, Lloyd’s Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly, and the Journal of Private International Law. His work has been cited by the UK Supreme Court, the US Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, and the High Court of Hong Kong.

Dr Ardavan Arzandeh joined NUS Law in 2021. He is an alumnus of the University of Bristol, where he read law as an undergraduate (LLB: 2006), postgraduate (LLM: 2008) and doctoral student (PhD: 2011). Ardavan has received Lord Hardwicke and Lord Denning Scholarships from Lincoln’s Inn, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales (Lincoln’s Inn) in July 2012.
Ardavan’s principal research expertise is in commercial conflict of laws. He is interested in exploring various questions arising in this area from doctrinal, historical, and comparative perspectives. He is the author of Forum (Non) Conveniens in England: Past, Present, and Future (Hart Publishing, 2019) and a number of articles in prestigious peer-reviewed law journals in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore – including the Cambridge Law Journal, the Law Quarterly Review, Legal Studies, the Melbourne University Law Review, Singapore Journal of Legal Studies, the International & Comparative Law Quarterly, Lloyd’s Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly, and the Journal of Private International Law. His work has been cited by the UK Supreme Court (Villiers v Villiers [2020] UKSC 30, and Enka v Chubb [2020] UKSC 38), the US Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit (Prevent USA Corp v Volkswagen AG, 17 F.4th 653 (6th Cir. 2021)), and the High Court of Hong Kong (Fong Chak Kwan v Ascentic Ltd [2020] HKCFI 1889).
Between 2012 and 2020, Ardavan was employed as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.
