Description
The TechTalk@TRAIL is a new bi-annual series by the Centre of Technology, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence & the Law (TRAIL) that brings together tech leaders and leading lawyers. It features discussions on technology that covers a kaleidoscope of topics such as artificial intelligence, software engineering and technological innovations that span industries from the creative arts to biotechnology to outer space. In each session, an industry leader will deliver an initial address, and this will be followed by a dialogue with one or two leading legal practitioners. The objective of TechTalk@TRAIL is to bring together tech and law in an exciting discursive environment where business leaders, entrepreneurs, lawyers, scholars and students can benefit from the insights and also actively participate in the conversations. Both the talk and dialogue will be available on YouTube after the live event.
The inaugural session on 16 April 2026 will feature Mr Tan Min-Liang, Co-Founder and CEO of Razer Inc, who is also an alumnus of NUS Law. In addition to his role as CEO, he also serves as the Creative Director and is responsible for directing and overseeing the design and development of all the products at Razer. In his wide-ranging talk, Min-Liang is expected to speak on a number of trends and issues in e-gaming that will include the impact of artificial intelligence on game development, the opportunities for monetisation and the extent to which policymakers should introduce regulatory safeguards. The talk will be followed by a discussion with Professor Tan Cheng Han, President of the Law Society of Singapore, moderated by Professor David Tan, Co-Director of TRAIL.
The Centre of Technology, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence & the Law (TRAIL) at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, was established in 2019, and has been one of the leading research institutes for all things law and technology in Singapore since its inception. In 2025, it organised a landmark gathering of leading legal scholars, policymakers, and industry experts from around the world where World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Director General Mr Daren Tang delivered a keynote address at the two-day conference “Intellectual Property and Technology in the 21st Century: Challenges in the Next Decade”. The conference was co-hosted with law schools from Columbia, Oxford, and Tsinghua, and was presented by Google, ByteDance and BakerMcKenzie.
