Abstract: This chapter examines the legal framework behind the drawing of electoral boundaries in Singapore and the nature of the Prime Minister’s discretion in this process. The legality of how electoral boundaries are drawn – their size, composition, frequency of re-delineation – is addressed in this article that argues that the Prime Minister’s discretion in how s/he directs the Electoral Boundaries Delineation Committee is circumscribed by law and that a wanton disregard for the basic principles and aims of delineation might result in a legal challenge before the courts.
