John will be visiting NUS before starting pupillage at 3 Verulam Buildings, a leading commercial set of barristers’ chambers in London. He will be researching the comparative law of legal professional privilege, as a coauthor of the upcoming expanded edition of Prof. Andrew Higgins’ book, Legal Professional Privilege for Corporations (OUP 2014).

John will be visiting NUS before starting pupillage at 3 Verulam Buildings, a leading commercial set of barristers’ chambers in London. He will be researching the comparative law of legal professional privilege, as a coauthor of the upcoming expanded edition of Prof. Andrew Higgins’ book, Legal Professional Privilege for Corporations (OUP 2014).
John obtained his BA in Jurisprudence (First Class, 2nd in Year) and Bachelor of Civil Law (Distinction) degrees from the University of Oxford, winning proxime accessit to the Martin Wronker Prize. He then taught as a lecturer at Mansfield College, Oxford, while completing his Bar Vocational Studies (Distinction) as a scholar of Gray’s Inn. John’s research spans private, public, and procedural law. His article on class actions won the Australian Academy of Law’s Annual Essay Prize in 2023. As a Singaporean with ties to Hong Kong, he keeps a keen interest in both jurisdictions’ legal landscapes.
