Ranked 2nd in the Asia Law Portal’s 2022 Women Legal Innovators in Asia and 10th in the 2023 APAC Legal Innovators, Jennifer is an active advocate for legal tech and fintech innovation. She co-founded LawTech.Asia and eTPL.Asia, a winner of Facebook’s Ethics in AI Research on “Operationalising information fiduciaries for AI governance”. Jennifer also serves on the steering committee of ALITA, helping advance legal technology collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region.

Currently a Vice President and the Head of Legal at the Singapore branch of a leading Chinese multinational bank, ranked among the top in tier-1 capital globally, Jennifer has built a wealth of experience advising financial institutions, fintech companies, and global tech giants across Asia and Europe. She has advised on a broad spectrum of matters, including cross-border financial regulations, sanctions compliance (such as U.S. OFAC regulations), AML/CFT, licensing for regulated financial products, electronic transactions, data privacy, and technology risk management. Notably, Jennifer has ensured compliance with evolving global regulations while providing strategic guidance on complex matters like cross-border notes issuance and loan agreements, as well as cutting-edge fintech solutions (including digital banking, cold storage crypto and NFT wallets, buy-now-pay-later models, and cross-border transfers/exchanges of money, cryptocurrencies, and digital assets).

Beyond regulatory advisory, Jennifer has negotiated and structured intricate contracts involving syndicated loans, trade finance, correspondent banking, and M&A deals in regulated and tech-driven industries. Bilingual in English and Business Chinese, she regularly reviews contracts written in Chinese. Her work also includes drafting indemnity provisions, non-compete terms, termination clauses, intellectual property licenses, records management and access conditions, technology transfers, and transitional services arrangements. Additionally, Jennifer manages complex corporate restructuring processes, focusing on restructuring debt and implementing recovery plans to stabilize distressed assets and address potential insolvency.

Earlier in her career as a litigation lawyer, Jennifer handled intellectual property and technology-related disputes, managing cases from discovery to interlocutory applications, trials, and enforcement proceedings. She represented clients in high-profile disputes, including an arbitration involving alleged misrepresentation in a blockchain insurance platform’s white paper and a High Court trial concerning a cybersecurity firm’s contract, which was allegedly frustrated due to Covid-19 government measures. This blend of corporate advisory and dispute resolution experience has provided Jennifer with a holistic understanding of the legal and regulatory challenges faced by technology-dependent  businesses.

An alumna of the National University of Singapore, Jennifer teaches Law and Technology as an adjunct at NUS Law School, sharing her practical knowledge in law and technology. She also regularly publishes articles on topics such as Web3, the metaverse, AI governance, crypto regulations, legal innovation, and ethics, and is frequently invited to speak on these topics at major conferences, including the Malaysian Bar Council International Law Conference, Asia LegalTech Leaders’ Summit, and Global Tech Talks.
