Abstract: This chapter contains accounts of the development, current state and future of Clinical Legal Education in a range of countries across East and South-East Asia, namely Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Legal clinics have a tenuous place in legal education in a range of Asian countries. The comprehensive reforms to legal education in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and China during the 21st Century, including the introduction of legal clinics, have often faced challenges in their implementation.
