Lawrence Boo is a professional arbitrator and mediator and heads The Arbitration Chambers, Singapore. He is a Law Reform Consultant to the Attorney-General’s Chambers and represented Singapore at the UNCITRAL Working Group on Arbitration and Conciliation (2004-2009). He is also Singapore’s National Correspondent to UNCITRAL’s Case Law on UNCITRAL Text (CLOUT).

Lawrence Boo is a professional arbitrator and mediator and heads The Arbitration Chambers, Singapore. He is a Law Reform Consultant to the Attorney-General’s Chambers and represented Singapore at the UNCITRAL Working Group on Arbitration and Conciliation (2004-2009). He is also Singapore’s National Correspondent to UNCITRAL’s Case Law on UNCITRAL Text (CLOUT).

Boo has sat as arbitrator in more than 170 arbitrations and more than 70 mediations and has written numerous arbitral awards. He is on the panel of many international arbitral institutions including American Arbitration Association (AAA) New York, China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC), Beijing Arbitration Commission, Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB), Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) and Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).

Boo leads the teaching of ‘International Commercial Arbitration’ at the NUS Faculty of Law since 1994.
His publication in the Halsbury’s Law’s Of Singapore Vol 2 (Arbitration) has been cited with approval by courts in Singapore and Malaysia.

Recent honours/citations/appointments include:

  • Appointed as amicus curiae by the Chief Justice to appear before the Court of Appeal in PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Persero) v Dexia Bank SA [2007] 1 SLR 597
  • Who’s Who Legal Singapore 2008 – described as “a very well-known name”, “internationally renowned figure” consistently recommended to our researchers” (at page 27)
  • Chambers’ Asia 2008 and 2009 – ranked as one of Asia’s most “in demand” “leading individuals” in arbitration “who always inspires confidence in arbitration” (at page 12 )
